Non-Resident Inventory Solutions
Expand Overseas Sales with Bonded Warehousing and Efficient Supply Chains
Non-Resident Inventory Solutions That Accelerate Global Expansion
As global business expansion accelerates, inventory and logistics strategies that leverage bonded-warehouse schemes have become essential for optimizing supply chains and strengthening competitiveness. At our major logistics hubs in the Netherlands, China, and Malaysia, we provide non-resident inventory solutions that capitalize on each country's regulatory framework and geographical advantages. These solutions support the creation of highly efficient supply chains—shortening logistics lead times, enabling rapid-delivery systems such as VMI, facilitating small-lot/high-frequency shipments, and optimizing customs and tax costs. Through these capabilities, we strongly support the growth of our customers' global businesses.
CHALLENGE
- We want to secure flexibility in determining customs duties and handling re-export for cargo with undetermined destinations.
- We want to hold and manage inventory overseas without establishing a local subsidiary.
- We want the flexibility to switch to re-export, split shipments, or small-lot deliveries in response to market trends.
- We want to increase inventory turnover to improve logistics costs and cash flows simultaneously.
- We want to defer the payment of customs duties and import VAT until the time of sales.
Netherlands
Your EU Inventory Hub for Cross-Border Business
Home to the Port of Rotterdam and Schiphol Airport, the Netherlands is one of Europe's leading logistics hubs. With its advanced logistics infrastructure and highly competitive tax regime, it serves as an exceptionally effective gateway for logistics strategies targeting the entire European market. At our Tilburg warehouse, we provide comprehensive solutions— including bonded inventory management and tax-agent services—leveraging the country's regulatory advantages and strategic location near Belgium and Germany. Through these capabilities, we support our customers in building efficient European supply chains and expanding their presence across the region.
Improved cash flow through VAT-deferral schemes
The Netherlands offers a VAT-deferral scheme that helps improve corporate cash flow. Even for clients without a local presence, our Dutch subsidiary acts as a tax agent and handles all VAT-related procedures on their behalf, including applications for VAT deferral.
E-Licensed High-Quality Logistics Services
— also supporting Medical Devices
We hold an E-license administered by the Dutch Customs Authority and operate with a highly efficient administrative framework supported by an advanced IT environment and rigorous inventory control. We manage both bonded and non-bonded inventories. For bonded inventory, customs clearance can be deferred until the goods are dispatched from the warehouse, which is the point at which import customs clearance takes place, allowing postponement of import duty and VAT payment and declaration. In addition, we are certified under ISO13485 certification, an international quality management system designed to ensure the safety and quality of medical devices. This certification enables us to provide high-quality logistics services tailored specifically to the medical device sector.
China
China Bonded Inventory Solutions for Non-Resident Companies
In 2004, the Waigaoqiao Bonded Logistics Park in Shanghai, China — the first of its kind in the country — began trial operations, and MOL Logistics (WBLZ) Co., Ltd. a member of our group, became the first Japanese company to establish a presence in the park. Since the early days of the system, we have operated within the logistics zone for many years, accumulating extensive experience and expertise. Building on this track record, we provide comprehensive support services delivered by our highly skilled staff.
* The Shanghai Waigaoqiao Bonded Logistics Park has since been integrated and reorganized, and is now positioned as part of the Waigaoqiao Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone within the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Improve cash flow and reduce inventory burden
An integrated bonded zone is an area located within China but treated as being outside the country for customs purposes, allowing inventories to be held and managed under the name of a non-resident while remaining in bonded status. Imported goods can be stored as bonded inventory within the zone, and only the required quantities can be brought into China in separate shipments. This enables supply to be aligned with demand, optimizes cash flow, reduces the risk of excess inventory, and supports just-in-time delivery. For goods exported from China, the VAT refund system is normally applied after export. However, by utilizing an integrated bonded zone, the goods may be deemed exported, allowing the refund process to be completed without physically transporting the goods out of the country.
Malaysia
Malaysia Bonded Warehousing for Efficient Asian Logistics
Malaysia is located at the heart of Southeast Asia and serves as a key international logistics hub connecting China, India and the Middle East. With one of the largest hub airports in Southeast Asia and one of the world's leading container ports, the country continues to strengthen its presence as a logistics hub in Asia thanks to its geographical advantages and high level of accessibility. Since 2016, our company has operated a bonded warehouse in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia, which is adjacent to Singapore, providing a wide range of logistics services.
