TOKYO – MOL Logistics (Japan) Co., Ltd., (President: Tetsuya Minato) today announced the establishment of a subsidiary in Myanmar, which will begin operation on May 2.
As Myanmar continues to make progress toward democratization and economic reform, the nation anticipates a sharp increase in demand for overseas logistics services in step with its growth as a manufacturing center and a consumer market.
In 2012, MOL Logistics (Japan) teamed up with Ever Flow River Forwarding & General Services Co., Ltd., which is managed by the FER Group, Myanmar’s largest logistics company, and dispatched market research specialists in July 2014. The company later began negotiations with Ever Flow on joint venture business opportunities, which resulted in the formation of MOL Logistics (Myanmar).
The new company will develop a wide variety of logistics services such as international air and ocean transport, cross-border transport with neighboring countries, domestic transportation, customs clearance, plant and project cargo transportation, and overseas moving service for expatriates. In addition, with the cooperation of South Asian area subsidiaries, it will draw upon the MOL Group’s global network to provide customers with customized logistics solutions.
The establishment of MOL Logistics (Myanmar) increases the MOL Logistics to 26 companies in 25 countries with a total of 112 business sites. Under the banner of “One MOL,” the MOL Logistics Group will enhance ties with the MOL Group including MOL (Myanmar). MOL Logistics (Japan) works continually to meet its customers’ diversified logistics needs, improve services, and enhance its overseas network to support customer supply chains.
