MOL Logistics to Open Warehouse in Vietnam; Operation Slated to Start in January 2019 -Ceremony Marks Signing of Warehouse Lease Contract-

August 30, 2018

TOKYO-MOL Logistics (Japan) Co., Ltd. (President: Shuhei Togo; headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) today announced that its subsidiary in Vietnam, MOL Logistics (Vietnam) Inc. (MLG Vietnam) is moving ahead with plans to open new warehouse in Haiphong City, northern Vietnam, and held a signing ceremony for conclusion of the lease contract with the property owner, Vidifi Duyen Hai Investment Joint Stock Company (VIDIFI).

The total floor area of the warehouse is 6,000 m2. It will be located next to Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, and convenient to the Port of Haiphong, a busy river port. It will also offer easy access to Haiphong International Container Terminal (HICT) at the deep-water port of Lach Huyen, which opened in May, and in which MOL holds an investment stake. The new warehouse will be ideally located as a distribution center for both import and export cargoes, with swift connections to ocean transport. In addition, the location allows quick service to Hanoi, which is just over an hour away.

The new warehouse will help MLG Vietnam meet a range of logistics needs such as storage and delivery in Haiphong City, where demand for these services is set to increase, fueled by capital investment by manufacturers in the electronics, electrical appliance, and automotive sectors. The warehouse is slated for completion at the end of this year, and will start operation in January 2019.

The signing ceremony was held at VIDIFI headquarters in Haiphong on August 2, with 25 people on hand, including MOL Managing Executive Officer Mitsujiro Akasaka (Chief Executive Representative, Asia, Middle East, Oceania) and Chief Country Representative for Vietnam Yasushi Furukawa, and MLG Vietnam General Director Joji Suzuki, who signed the contract.

MLG Vietnam was established in November 2005, and is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City. Its network now includes 10 locations-the Hanoi Branch, offices at Noi Bai International Airport, Haiphong, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh, Ben Tre, and Binh Duong, and a warehouse in Song Than, Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam.

MOL Logistics (Japan) is constantly on the move to develop and expand its global network and serve as a key partner in its customers’ supply chains. Under the banner of “One MOL,” it will further enhance cooperation with MOL Group companies to meet various customers’ logistics needs with the group’s collective capabilities.
