TOKYO—MOL Logistics Japan Co., Ltd. (MLG; President & CEO: Osamu Sakurada) today announced that it is teaming up with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto), as members of the MOL Group, to exhibit at the TICAD Business Expo & Conference held in conjunction with the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9, Note 1). The event will be held at Pacifico Yokohama from Wednesday, August 20 to Friday, August 22, 2025.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, MLG operates forwarding and warehousing businesses mainly serving East Africa. In January 2024, it launched a strategic alliance with Revital Healthcare, Kenya’s leading manufacturer of medical disposables and diagnostic devices, to strengthen its position in the medical logistics market.

Exhibition attendees will get a firsthand look at the MOL Group’s commitment to expanding its business in Africa through informational sessions and exhibitions. The MLG exhibition booth will introduce the concept of a new warehouse in Mombasa and display a model of the facility. On the opening day, Wednesday, August 20, at 12:30 p.m., MLG Chairman Koichi Yashima, will host a seminar in Exhibition Hall D, S-03, along with Revital Healthcare, to introduce their business activities in Africa.

(Note 1) TICAD stands for Tokyo International Conference on African Development. Since 1993, TICAD has been hosted by the Japanese government in collaboration with the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank, and the African Union Commission (AUC).
(Note 2) Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has proposed a rapid electricity and fuel supply model that combines LNG power generation vessels with logistics. They aim to be a social infrastructure partner that supports sustainable growth in Africa by taking advantage of port and transport infrastructure development and group synergies, as well as future use of renewable energy and green fuels.

The session will focus on the industrialization of green hydrogen, the development of off-take systems and consider the importance of international cooperation for the formation of hydrogen supply hubs. In Africa, the industrialization of green hydrogen utilizing renewable energy is progressing, and public-private partnerships, including third countries, are supporting it. Speakers will discuss the importance of promoting international cooperation in the start-up of hydrogen-related industries by introducing the support schemes of European companies and the efforts of Japanese governmental organizations.

(Note 4) In this seminar, a co-creation type public-private partnership model that was formed with the involvement of major Japanese companies and ministries, starting from the process in which Japanese startups founded by Japanese have built relationships of trust with the Senegalese government and local governments and developed businesses rooted in local issues will be introduced. Specifically, the integrated solar refrigeration, processing, and digital KIOSK model, which is being demonstrated in Senegal will be shared. To solve social issues, the reality of co-creation from the technologies and perspectives of each company in areas such as logistics, cooling, community service, and thermal insulation will be presented.
