MOL Logistics Starts Service to Beijing Benz Plant

TOKYO – MOL Logistics (Japan) Co., Ltd. (President: Toshifumi Kato) today announced that its subsidiary in China, Shanghai Huajia International Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd. has been selected as the automobile parts logistics provider for Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. and has launched service for the automaker’s production plant in Beijing.

The Beijing Benz Plant produced about 50,000 units in 2010, and expects a significant increase in 2011.

Shanghai Huajia International Freight Forwarding collects automobile parts directly from suppliers in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Wuhan, and Chongqing for delivery to the Beijing Benz plant. The company also returns parts containers and other packaging materials to the suppliers.

Before starting the service which includes long-range truck routes of up to 1,500 km, in order to meets the high-level needs of Beijing Benz, the company worked closely with them and established a system that offers the following services:

  • About 50 specialized trucks featuring GPS tracking devices that monitor the delivery status of all parts on the trucks in real time.
  • Checking parts inventory status in the plant and status of readiness for parts delivery, and making the most efficient parts collection and delivery plans.
  • A back-up system, including trucks for direct delivery and emergency air transport, is also available in case of an urgent order.

MOL Logistics is engaged in many high-value added services such as buyer’s consolidation, constant temperature air and ocean transport of pharmaceutical products, and constant-temperature storage, transport, quality checking, and other associated services for wines. Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany also has high regard for MOL Logistics’ s services, which led to the contract for this service.
